    Mobile Speed Enforcement in Cleveland

Yes, the City of Cleveland is not satisfied just having mounted cameras at certain intersections with sensors in the pavement.
Yes, the city now has mobile radar units that clock you, photograph your car, and mail you a ticket.
Yes, I got one in the mail yesterday.  It states I was going 39 in a 25 on 1/30/08, Eastbound at 6214 St. Clair Avenue, around 5:30 PM.
That was over two weeks ago -- I have no idea what I was doing.  That isn't even my usual way home.
Big Brother is watching you -- and he's picking your pocket.

The basic problem is that such speeding is generally seen to be morally neutral even though it's a crime.

The answer, clearly, is a major PR push demonizing all speeders. I suggest commercials featuring little kids playing ball and getting run over by people, for example, going 40 in a 25 zone.

That'll erase the moral/legal disparity and make such ticketing acceptable to the public.

    You're welcome.

I received one at the end of May 2006 from a mobile enforcer. Didn't get the ticket until almost a month later. Unfortunately, most people weren't aware of the mobile units when the camera legislation passed. It's really stings too when you specifically use routes to avoid the stationary cameras.

I also like the Orwell reference. Too bad not enough people have read "1984."
